What are SARMs?
What Are SARMs?
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) are a class of compounds originally developed through pharmaceutical research to selectively activate androgen receptors in muscle and bone tissue.
The concept behind SARMs began in the early 1990s, when researchers led by James T. Dalton at the University of Tennessee discovered a molecule while researching treatments for prostate cancer. That compound later became known as Andarine (S4).
Further development continued when Dalton and his team later worked at GTx Inc. in Memphis, where they developed additional compounds including Ostarine (MK-2866).
Since their discovery more than 30 years ago, SARMs have been investigated for their potential role in addressing:
• muscle wasting
• osteoporosis
• age-related loss of lean mass
• physical performance decline
Because SARMs were designed to target specific tissues, they attracted significant interest from researchers studying muscle growth and recovery.
Over time, these compounds became widely discussed within the strength and performance community due to their potential association with increases in lean mass, strength, and recovery when used within structured training systems.
At JW Supplements, our focus is providing top quality products that allow individuals to build structured performance systems with consistency and precision.
